Yes, but only under strict conditions—and it’s generally not recommended for food safety, especially for meat.
Short answer:
- Used only for veggies/fruit, no raw meat, no soaking in liquid: You can wash, dry, and reuse them a few times.
- Touched raw meat, soaked, splintered, or dirty: Throw them away.
Why you should be careful:
- Bamboo is porous → easily traps bacteria, oil, and food residue.
- It’s hard to fully sanitize bamboo.
- Reused skewers often get splintered and unsafe to eat with.
If you really want to reuse:
- Scrub thoroughly with hot soapy water right after use.
- Soak in a weak bleach solution or boil briefly.
- Let them completely air-dry (moisture = mold).
- Check for splinters, softness, or mold before reuse.
For most home cooking, using new bamboo skewers each time is the safest and easiest choice.
